Peter Pulvermacher Obituary

The death of Peter Joseph Pulvermacher, 76 years, of Bruno occurred on Monday, January 26, 2026 at City Hospital, Saskatoon.  Peter was born on October 12, 1949, in Humboldt to Francis and Tekla (nee Rieland) Pulvermacher.  He grew up in Bruno and attended school there.  Following his education, Peter joined the Armed Forces.  He took his basic training in Nova Scotia and then an electronics course at Borden, ON.  It was while in Borden that Peter met Judy Sayer.  Peter was then stationed at CFB Cold Lake in Alberta and they began a long-distance relationship.  On August 7, 1971, they were married and Judy moved to Cold Lake, later moving together to Penhold when Peter was transferred.  In 1980 Peter left the military and returned to Bruno.  Along with his brother Jerome, they took over the family business, Pulvermacher Bros. Shop Rite.  This business remained in the family for 109 years, until they sold it in 2015 and retired.  Peter was a people person, he would visit with everyone and anyone.  He enjoyed quadding, fishing and gardening.  Peter and Judy took many motorcycle trips together, touring all over Canada and the US.  Peter’s Christmas light display was a sight to see each year and people would come from all over to watch the twinkling lights.  He was a jack of all trades and could fix pretty much anything, always willing to lend a hand to help anyone who might need it.  Peter had an amazing work ethic which he passed on to his family.  He loved music, was always humming or singing, with a happy smile on his face and ready with a quick sense of humor.  He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 54 years, Judy Pulvermacher of Bruno; two daughters and their families:  Dawn Dyck (Tod Brennan) of Swift Current and her family Cody Dyck of Saskatoon, Brittany Dyck (Matthew Garthson) of Fort Qu’Appelle and daughter Frankie Garthson and baby girl due in April, and Stephanie Dyck of Regina; and Tracey Alford and her daughter Aaliyah Alford, both of Saskatoon; his brothers and sisters:  Jerome Pulvermacher of Bruno, Joanne Story of Brockville, ON, Michael Pulvermacher of Saskatoon, Enid (Dennis) Siegel of Burr, and Edna (Marvin) Hodgson of Bruno; and by numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents Francis and Tekla Pulvermacher, brother-in-law Peter Story and niece Bridget Kurysh.  A Prayer Service for Peter was held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. and the Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, February 4 at 10:00 a.m.  Both services were held at St. Bruno Roman Catholic Church, Bruno.  Memorial Donations in Peter’s memory may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan.
